24 Oct Trinity Management’s Courthouse Lofts Nominated for the 2022 People’s Preservation Choice Award
Trinity Management’s Courthouse Lofts are proud to have been selected as a nominee for the 2022 People’s Preservation Choice Award. Courthouse Lofts, amongst other nominees, is recognized for its efforts toward preserving the Commonwealth’s historic resources. Embracing its historic roots as an 1800s courthouse, Courthouse Lofts is proud to have their work towards historic preservation recognized with the nomination, which was granted by Preservation Massachusetts earlier this year.
Preservations Massachusetts is a statewide historic preservation organization whose mission is to preserve the state’s rich historic heritage. Amongst historic advocacy, legislation initiatives, and educational efforts, the non-profit works to encourage and recognize organizations and projects that work towards historical preservation. Since 1988, the organization has been celebrating these organizations with a series of awards, including the Paul & Niki Tsongas Award, which Courthouse Lofts had the honor of receiving a runner-up recognition for. Believing an important factor of historic preservation is making the old new and relevant again, they introduced the People’s Preservation Choice Award in 2019. With this award, they give the public a chance to vote on which historic preservation project is deserving of the honor.
Trinity Management is proud to have Courthouse Lofts nominated for the 2022 People’s Preservations Choice Award, as it was our mission to maintain the rich history of this downtown Worcester property. The newly restored Historic Worcester Courthouse has been completely transformed into one-of-a-kind mixed income housing in the heart of the city. At the same time, the property maintains its historic legacy, even featuring a museum within the property. The redesign took full advantage of the classic Beaux-style architecture of the 19th century and classic built-in courthouse features, creating an impressive blend of modern living and historic preservation. The Architecture Team’s senior project manager, Phil Renzi, reflects on the project, saying:
“Courthouse Lofts is one of the most extraordinary adaptive reuse projects our firm has taken on...Our design team faced the challenge of restoring and combining multiple historic structures from different centuries into a single community, and the result is truly exceptional. This community combines the best of modern living with monumental and exquisitely detailed historic architecture.”
Voting for the 2022 People’s Preservation Award concluded in May 2022, with the Mausert Block in Adams being named the winner. Trinity Management and Courthouse Lofts are incredibly honored to have been included amongst the nominees, as we are always working to celebrate the rich history and culture of not only the historic building, but of the entire community of Worcester.
