There are balconies and big windows in the 129 apartments of The Regency in downtown New Bedford, from which residents can savor the stunning views of Buzzards Bay and beyond. At 16 stories tall, it is a standout building, with luxurious details in the private and common areas.
The mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units includes 86 market-rate apartments, 33 affordable apartments for people earning 30 percent or 60 percent of area median income, and 10 “workforce” units for people earning 65 percent of area median income.
All apartments feature bamboo floors and fine finishes throughout, including the bathrooms and kitchens, which were remodeled in 2009-2010 and now boast energy- and water-efficient utilities, quartz kitchen counters and stainless steel appliances.
There is a laundry room on each of floors 1 through 14, and there are individual washers and dryers in units on floors 15 and 16. The state-of-the-art Fitness Room is open 24 hours a day. The Club Room features a gas fireplace. There is also a Billiards Room and a Media Room for residents to enjoy.
Residents may smoke in their own apartments, but not in common areas. Also, they may have up to two cats.
The historic area of downtown New Bedford is right outside the door, and the waterfront is a short walk away. A National Park is nearby, and the ferries to Martha’s Vineyard and Cuttyhunk are there for the taking. Interstate 195 and Route 6 make travel to Providence, Newport or the Cape a short 30 minute trip, while Boston is just one hour away.
