Countryside Apartments in Marlborough, Massachusetts, is a nicely landscaped property set back from an historic road with easy access to major highways that lead to small towns or bigger cities. Once considered far away from it all, Marlborough has been made an easy commute by Routes 495, 290, 20 and the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Countryside sits on Boston Post Road, which began as a postal route between New York City and Boston and set the stage for the first highways. It became a favorite rest stop for travelers throughout the history of the area. In fact, parts of it have been placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Route 495 runs off Boston Post Road, and from there one can access Route 93 North or South, take other roads to the sandy shores of Cape Cod, or routes to Providence, New Haven, or New York City.

In addition, Marlborough has great bus service provided by the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority to nearby communities.

Countryside has 118 apartments, of which 117 are affordable and one is market-rate. There are 12 one-bedroom apartments, 52 two-bedroom apartments, and 54 three-bedroom apartments. There is a laundry room in each building. There are also landscaped courtyards, a playground and a Youth Center. Residents are allowed one cat per household; only service dogs are allowed. Smoking is allowed in individual apartments.

Marlborough housing prices have increased dramatically over the past 30 years, with lots of newly built, expensive homes. Nearly all of the affordable housing that is offered in Marlborough is found at Countryside Village.

Residents might enjoy the many restaurants, shops and cultural events of the city. Also easily accessed by highway are various shopping malls.

Residents might also enjoy the three large lakes in the city — Lake Williams, Millham Reservoir, and Fort Meadow Reservoir — and the Assabet River, which provide lovely panoramas.

Once a center of shoe manufacturing, Marlborough has changed with the times. Today it is home to many high tech industries that offer employment opportunities, including: Fidelity Investments, Raytheon, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, Boston Scientific and Egenera.
