Ideally-located right around the corner from the Fields Corner subway stop, the four-story 1460 House is totally in tune with the city’s transit-oriented development strategy. In fact, Mayor Thomas Menino made a special point of coming to the property in July 2011 to sing its praises.

“This is another great renovation on Dorchester Avenue,” he said, as he lauded the non-profit Vietnam American Initiative for Development (Viet-AID) for its development of the building.

The building had once been an office building and included a bar called Mickey’s Place. It was renovated after purchase by Viet-AID in 2006 and reopened in 2008. It has 43 units, including 12 one-bedroom apartments and 31 studios. There is also 6,274 square feet divided into six condominium commercial units on the ground floor. The latter include a dentist’s office, a gift/jewelry/electronics store (two store fronts), a café, a convenience store, and an office.

All the apartments are geared to people earning up to 60 percent of area median income, with 20 percent of the units set aside for people earning up to 30 percent of area median income.
